Handcrafted Bespoke Campervan Conversions in Dorset

Our Odyssey layout is the result of years spent refining what actually works in a compact campervan conversion. Designed and built in Dorset, it’s one of our most popular bespoke campervan conversions, combining a spacious U-shaped lounge, clever storage, and premium, furniture-led materials.

The layout is ideal for couples or solo travellers looking for a flexible setup. By day, the U-shaped seating creates a comfortable living space. By night, it converts into a generous double bed. Unlike a traditional rock and roll bed campervan layout, Odyssey uses integrated bench cabinetry to maximise both space and storage without compromise.

The pop-top roof features a bi-fold bed, giving you full standing height when open and an additional double sleeping area when closed. This makes it a practical option for both short trips and longer off-grid travel.

Voyager reimagines the traditional campervan setup with a rock and roll bed and full-length driver’s side cabinetry. With up to five belted seats and space to sleep four, it’s the perfect choice for families, couples, or solo travellers who want a van that works both as a camper and a daily vehicle.

The pop-top roof includes a single-fold bed board, offering extra head height when pushed up and a comfortable double bed above when pulled down. Below, the rock and roll bed transforms into a second double, making Voyager a compact camper that punches well above its weight.

Customer Testimonials

  • — Rachel & Jules

"Right from when we first met Tom, his enthusiasm to help us achieve our van conversion dream has been brilliant. Communication was always good, both electronically and face to face. We discussed and agreed a personal design and he kept us updated throughout the conversion. His skills are excellent, particularly with the wood and kitchen units — evidence of his previous role as a furniture maker — and there were some great extras such as a wine rack drawer, a mobile dimmer switch, and a pull-out garage drawer that we had not expected at the start. The schedule suited us perfectly, the handover went smoothly, and follow-up questions have all been answered quickly. We love our van and would recommend Matchbox to anyone looking for an individualised, stylish conversion."

  • — Lucy P.

"Commissioned Matchbox Conversions to convert our Peugeot Boxer based on a previous design. The whole experience was a pleasure from start to finish. Tom helped source the van, suggested innovative and aesthetically pleasing design modifications, and maintained excellent communication throughout. The final result is a stunning, high-spec campervan that exceeded our expectations. His workmanship and passion are second to none."

  • — Fred

"I couldn't be more happy with my van! From start to finish, Tom was dedicated to helping me bring to life my concept and create my dream ultra-mobile, efficient space. Meticulously executed and consistently updated — the result is absolutely incredible. Tom is a legend."

  • — Lizzie & Kate

"We chose Matchbox because we got the sense there were no off-the-shelf solutions — and we weren’t disappointed. Working with Tom and Annie was an absolute joy from start to finish. Tom is a real craftsman, both technically and visually, and no challenge our brief or van presented was too much. It felt like a true partnership, with creative ideas matched by smart solutions at every stage. We were a little unsure due to Tom’s relative inexperience at the time, but those doubts couldn’t have been more unfounded. From the lighting to the hot water system, the flooring to the bespoke blinds — it’s perfection. Even the handover was brilliant — complete with a train station pick-up, personalised manual, and instant snagging support. We can’t recommend Matchbox enough."
